 Role Overview

  • Manage projects to ensure the proposed plan adheres to the timeline, budget, and scope.

  • To provide detailed technical support for products, applications, and contracts from initial enquiry through to installation and commissioning, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and to budget.

  • Provide appropriate responses to technical and commercial enquiries, carrying out contract reviews, support order processing, progress, documentation, and all other aspects associated with supporting customers.

Key responsibilities

  Technical Application

  • Respond appropriately to internal and external customer requests of a technical, commercial and general nature

  • Correctly identify customer needs and where appropriate pass the telephone call or a lead across to colleagues who are better placed to help the customer.

  • Ensure that effective pre-qualification is undertaken on all requests and projects.

  • Provide technical advice in line with relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance notes.

  • Use technical expertise to encourage pro-active selling and a willingness to ask for the order.

  • Ensure that all customer variations are costed and invoiced.

  • Effectively use the software tools, Intranet, databases, and systems provided.

  • Product-manage the range of products: product life cycle, pricing strategy, marketing, commercial activities, sales support, planning.

  • Create and deliver a plan for the specialist area – product range, industry, or application.

  • Actively support sales engineers to help them achieve or exceed their plan in the specialist area: creation of annual and quarterly plans, monthly and quarterly follow-up with sales team

  • Provide 2D / 3D drawing, IT and IMI to Sales

  • Attend customer / supplier sites as required.

  • Support commercial activities where appropriate (exhibitions, mailings, training)

  • Support training courses – practical sessions and lecturing.

 

Project

  • Management of (relatively) large customer projects from customer PO to inception and delivery

  • Maintain project time frames, budget estimates, and status reports.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation & certification submission.

  • Monitor progress and measure performance against the project plan using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.

  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.

  • Oversee product construction and testing to ensure completion of projects efficiently and effectively.

  • Leads and attends the design and safety reviews and supervises the follow-up of the outcomes.

  • Troubleshooting system applications at customer’s site on customer's request, resolving other engineering issues regarding systems application, conducting regular follow-up on customer's activities and monitoring the same for obtaining new sales opportunities

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.

  • Ensures the issue, the validation, and the maintenance of the project equipment lists and /or other key engineering documents as applicable to each project.

  • Ensures effective interdisciplinary coordination through weekly meetings. Takes the necessary technical decisions in case of unresolved conflicts between disciplines. Controls that the engineering team properly interfaces with other project members.

  • Contributes to Project reporting for the engineering part (activities, quantities, budget, areas of concern etc.)

  • Participates in contract management by initiating, collecting, and consolidating the variation requests and change orders.

  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years working in a similar business/industry, bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent

  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate and reason with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Experience of solution design using 2D / 3D modelling software, Auto CAD or SolidWorks program

  • Well organized and good time management skills, able to work under pressure with multiple deadlines

  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload under time pressure and changing priorities

  • A working knowledge of Spirax products, applications, systems, and processes
