Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Engineer to join our dynamic product development team, specializing in high-precision semiconductor equipment. In this role, you will ensure that our products comply with international safety standards by conducting pre-audit design reviews, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and coordinating with third-party auditors to obtain necessary compliance certifications. Your expertise will be critical in mitigating risks and ensuring the safety and reliability of our cutting-edge semiconductor equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-audit assessments of product designs to ensure compliance with international safety standards (e.g., IEC, UL, SEMI, CE, NFPA, ISO).

  • Work closely with design engineers to integrate safety requirements early in the product development lifecycle.

  • Identify potential safety hazards and recommend design modifications to mitigate risks.

  • Stay updated on evolving global safety regulations relevant to semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

  • Translate regulatory requirements into actionable design and testing criteria.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and external certification bodies (e.g., TÜV, UL, CSA).

  • Prepare and submit documentation required for compliance audits.

  • Facilitate on-site audits and address findings to achieve certification.

  • Collaborate with test engineers to validate safety-critical components and systems and conduct hands-on safety testing when required (e.g. electrical safety checks, fault condition simulations, and mechanical hazard assessments).

  • Review test reports and ensure alignment with certification requirements. Perform independent verification tests as needed to confirm compliance.

  • Conduct risk assessments (e.g., FMEA, Hazard Analysis) and maintain safety compliance records

  • Develop and maintain technical files, compliance reports, and safety manuals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in product safety engineering, preferably in semiconductor equipment, industrial machinery, or high-tech manufacturing.

  • Proven track record of achieving compliance certifications (e.g., CE, UL, IEC 60204, SEMI S2/S8).

  • Familiarity with safety standards such as CE, IEC 60204, NFPA 79

  • Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical safety principles and hazard mitigation.

  • Experience with risk assessment methodologies (e.g., FMEA, HAZOP).

  • Proficiency in CAD/PLM tools (e.g., SolidEdge) for design review is a plus.
