Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounts and Finance Manager with a construction industry background to lead the finance function. The ideal candidate will oversee the full spectrum of financial operations, manage a small team, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and provide financial insight to support business decisions. Experience in project accounting, cost control, and subcontractor/vendor financial management is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Management AccountingSupervise the preparation and maintenance of full sets of accounts and monthly closing activities
Review and approve journal entries, invoices, and payment runs prepared by the Accounts Executive
Oversee project costing and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting for ongoing construction projects
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly management reports, cash flow forecasts, and budget vs actual analysis
Prepare and review quarterly, half-yearly, and year-end closings including audit schedules and financial statements
Lead preparation and submission of GST, corporate tax, and XBRL filings
Lead annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts in collaboration with project managers
Monitor cost performance and provide financial insights on project profitability and margin control
Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and improve financial processes
Ensure compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), IRAS, and other statutory requirements
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies
Respond to audit, GST, and tax queries
Lead, coach, and mentor a small finance team
Allocate responsibilities, review work, and support staff development
Evaluate and manage relationships with banks, insurers, suppliers, and subcontractors
Provide financial analysis to management to support operational and strategic decisions
Perform ad hoc duties as assigned by senior management
Requirements
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA)
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within the construction industry
Strong understanding of construction finance, including project accounting, subcontractor payments, and progress billing
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, QuickBooks, or equivalent); familiarity with project-based ERP systems is a plus
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
High attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure
