Part A: Key Deliverables / About the role (Provide a brief, what success in the position looks like, and how it fits into the company)
Flavourists; or flavour chemists, requires creativity, in addition to an above-average sense of taste and smell. He / She to have a good memory for scents. Ability to combine essential oils, plant extracts and aroma chemicals to create both artificial and natural flavours.
Have the knowledge to conduct tests at the same time know / set up the processes of systematic testing in a laboratory environment on how flavours perform in various products. Engineer flavours that will end up in a variety of products.
Part B: Responsibilities and Duties
Motivation, patience, and a willingness to experiment are also important. Flavorists must have the ability to work well in a team environment, because they often rely on others to give them feedback on flavors.
Provide timely responsiveness to ongoing testing enquiries and processes.
Certified Flavorist with the ability to create aspiring flavors from scratch or the relevant experience.
Keep track of all test results and comments ensuring that they are recorded without any errors.
Ensure proper data management is maintained in the database of the creations, ingredients, and supplies.
Assist in resolving related issues where necessary.
Provide knowledge support for product pricing, product costing etc.
Attended to all matters pertaining to lab processes, testing procedures and results.
Other related duties as assigned by Head of Flavors/Product Development Manager/Blender/representative of the company.
Part C: Qualifications & Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge, Etc)
Bachelor's/Undergraduate degree/Diploma in food science, food engineering, chemistry, food science or biology and/or 3 years relevant working experience in flavour area in any industry such as consumer product development, flavour technologies, flavour application and project management etc.
Be capable of creating flavours from scratch using natural extracts, essential oils, and aroma chemicals.
Basic experience in sensory evaluation of flavour raw materials and assessing potential for future use in creating new flavors and also experience in working in a team-oriented environment collaborating with cross-functional teams locally/regionally.
Part D: Specific Requirements (Mandatory for the role) (not the same with Part C)
Have minimum overall experience of 2 years in the Flavour Industry within a creative function.
Basic understanding of Flavours categories and a strong emphasis on Flavour creation and applications, raw materials and chemical processes and working experience in sensory research field.
Highly responsible and reliable with exceptional attention to details.
Experience in working within tight deadlines independently in a fast-paced environment.
Able to maintain confidentiality for all work-related matters.
Creativity and scientific proficiency with a sensitive and distinctive palette.
Part E: Others (if any)
Working Location: Singapore
5 working days per week.
