The Business Development - Gaming will be responsible for establishing and executing a business development vision, strategy, and plans to drive licensing revenue from video gaming industry in South East Asia regions. This role will also work with other NBA Asia business groups, including marketing partnerships and merchandising partnerships colleagues in NBA Asia.
This individual will be required to explore new potential opportunities, as well as maintaining and supporting the existing partners in that regions.
The role will report to the VP Gaming Business/VP Global Partnership to drive new revenue streams including but not limited to video games, IP collaboration, digital collectibles, and Esports.
The position will be based in Singapore with travel to the focus markets in a diverse region.
Major Responsibilities
In coordination with the broader Business Development and Video Game, this role requires outreach to video game companies to explore new opportunities of granting NBA license to develop new game, and/or use NBA IP to execute IP collaborations.
Additionally, this role will be responsible for daily communication with existing partners in that regions, as well as provide needed support to those partners.
- Identify new opportunities on the market and source the potential partners.
- Maintain a strong level of relations with existing and new partners.
- Lead the tracking of partners’ performance on regional sales prospects and updates for senior management on sales strategy and progress.
- Provide support to partners on daily basis and needs to be hands on the ground.
- Co-lead the preparation of sales presentations, deal memo/summaries and other departmental relevant documents
- Build and develop relationships across the regional and global organization to drive overall NBA SEA business objectives and revenue
Required Skill/Experience
- At least 10 years of international or regional video games companies experience. Knowledge of sales, business development, IP collaboration, and/or marketing experience with proven records of successful titles.
- At least 10 years partnership development and management of IP product / merchandise licensing.
- At least 10 years’ experience of a Business Development storyteller through written, verbal, and visual communications with exceptional negotiating skills to be able to initiate and close business deals
- Strategic and entrepreneurial thinker – able to shape, develop and execute the strategy for a diverse region
- High level connectivity – an ability to connect with local, regional and multinational business heads in the region and maintain those relationships.
- A credible communicator, adept at operating at all levels up to Board level
- Ability to work well within a matrixed global organization
- Role based in Singapore
Qualifications
- Native language in English, and fluency in Mandarin, or other local national languages. Fluent in Japanese is a plus.
