Employee Relations function leverages comprehensive expertise to drive Prudential’s ER strategy and develop pragmatic solutions to complex employee relations issues, while effectively managing employment and legal risks to support sustainable business success. Director, Employee Relations will report to the Head of Employee Relations, and support the implementation of Group Employee Relation strategy and initiatives across our markets in Asia and Africa. The role works in in close partnership with HR Business Partners, HR CoEs and HR teams in the local markets, as well as corporate functions and senior management.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Supporting the design and implementation of the global Employee Relations strategy;
  • Providing subject matter expertise and acting as a trusted advisor to HR community, leaders and employees on Employee Relations related matters;
  • Assessing risks, applying strategic thinking, and effectively managing complex and sensitive employment matters to drive resolution and positive outcomes;
  • Keeping abreast of the employment regulations and trends across local markets to ensure that company policies and practices are compliant with local legislation and best practice;
  • Partnering with Human Resources, RCS, Legal, business leaders and other stakeholders to develop solutions for a wide range of employment related matters, including strategic projects and change initiatives;
  • Leading HR investigations and closely collaborating with Global Investigations team to support HR related Speak Out investigations;
  • Providing advice on effective handling of employee complaints and workplace disputes, including remedial action and consequence management;
  • Identifying and analysing trends arising from investigations and case management and proposing relevant interventions;
  • Leading the design and delivery of training initiatives to uplift Employee Relations capability and establish a network of expertise across the organisation;
  • Setting up and leading the Employee Relations Community of Practice to support collaboration, exchange of knowledge and best practice;
  • Designing and implementing global Employee Relations policies, frameworks and toolkits and supporting implementation of HR policies in local markets;
  • Owning content and governance of the company’s employment contract templates, including regular reviews to ensuring compliance with local legislation;
  • Drafting, reviewing and/or supporting HR Business Partners with the interpretation of employment contracts, termination agreements, etc.
  • Supporting Prudential’s labour relations strategy and engagement of employee representative bodies in partnership with local markets HR teams;
  • Ensuring timely completion of Group level Employee Relations reporting and governance requirements.
